People often talk about one of the women’s worst enemy – cellulite. It can appear on your skin if you are struggling with overweight and if you are not. It can affect man too, but in much smaller numbers due to hormones and the way man’s band of tissue that connects skin and muscle together are shaped.
Cellulite is such a common problem that up to 90 percent of adult women is fighting it (or accepting it). This is why Personal Trainers Dubai’s coaches decided to answer the question of what is cellulite in the first place and how you can fight it.
What is cellulite?
We are free to say that almost everyone in the world has fat beneath the skin. This fat sits right below the skin’s surface, and it becomes visible when this fat squeezes between the bands that connect muscle and skin together.
The most common type is cellulite on the back of your thighs and buttocks, but it can appear almost everywhere. It is more often shown when people are struggling with overweight.
Cellulite can appear for a variety of reasons, like poor circulation, inactivity, genetics and even hormones. Dehydration is also one of the reasons for cellulite to show up.
Cellulite isn’t a health hazard, but it is esthetic change.
What are the ways to fight it?
Unfortunately, there is no magical cellulite eraser. Even plastic surgery cannot solve the cellulite problem. The only way is to start exercising and to follow the nutrition plan you get from your personal trainer.
The exercise will help you reduce body fat and firm up your skin and muscles, but there is a lot more work to put in when you want to get rid of cellulite.
To do this random exercise routine won’t do the trick. You need a specialized exercise plan. Tell your personal trainer about your problem and you will get the workout plan that will include all the needed types of exercises.
#1 Exercise plan
First thing is to do your cardio. Reducing body fat by doing cardio will minimize the appearance of cellulite. The more active you are, the better. Try to do at least 30 minutes of cardio. You can do some fast walking, running, hiking, even swimming. Personal trainers often recommend kickboxing as the perfect way for you to do cardio, have fun and tighten your muscles.
As we mentioned in our previous blogs, spot-targeting exercises won’t help. Still, you can target certain areas during your exercise to become tighter and thinner. These exercises include squats, lunges and step-ups. Your personal trainer will recommend you the right amount of reps since it is important to do the right intensity for you. Usually, you will do 8 to 12 reps.
In addition to this, you can do some pilates or even ballet. This way you target smaller muscles and areas that you might not target with typical weight exercise alone.
#2 Hydration
In addition to the workout routine, we already mentioned that dehydration can be one of the reasons for cellulite. When you are fighting it hydrate properly. Your personal trainer should include drinking enough water into your nutrition plan, which is created according to your health and need.
#3 Right nutrition
Battle against cellulite also requires eating healthy food and being really careful about your diet. Try to eat a lot of fruits, veggies and nuts. Lean proteins and whole grains are a way to go. Your diet should be low-fat (we mentioned that cellulite is actually fat), so you can eat low-fat dairy, beans and eggs too. Decrease the intake of sugary foods, like cookies and cake.
